Seasonal Affective Disorder - What Exactly Causes it?

A common skin condition that often involves the face, but can also affect other parts of the body is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). In this condition, there are depressed feelings that go along with being sad, dejected, and gloomy. It's a common experience for sufferers of SAD, but they may be experiencing it because of other conditions as well.

Many people who are diagnosed with SAD do not show any outward signs of sadness. These people might just be suffering from day to day things. But for some of them, they may not even exhibit these symptoms in public. So what exactly causes these feelings of sadness in a person?



Seasonal Affective Disorder is often brought on by biological factors, which include genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. There are many studies that suggest a link between the winter season and depression. The reason behind this is that it seems that a lot of anxiety and stress is passed from parent to child during the winter season. Being able to be in a group with other people who are happy all the time can be a huge relief for people who have Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Mental health professionals tend to use the terms of Seasonal Affective Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder interchangeably. But they do have different characteristics. Because this is a skin disease, it can affect the eyes and skin. This is why it's important to treat it with care, and for people to go to see a doctor about their skin problems.

For instance, dieting can help in improving your self-esteem. However, it has been scientifically proven that depression, anxiety and depression have a direct correlation with the intake of cholesterol in the body. This is why, if you have a tendency to be depressed, it is highly recommended that you restrict the intake of cholesterol to lower the risks of getting depressed.

You see, many studies have shown that diets rich in saturated fats, which are commonly found in the red meat and other forms of meat, can cause an increase in blood pressure. The intake of too much fat can cause the blood vessels to narrow, which can result in an irregular heartbeat.

As a result, the person suffering from high blood pressure may feel heavy and anxious all the time, which results in a lack of concentration and sleep, which in turn will cause people to suffer from poor mental health. An example of a food that is considered to be unhealthy are fats and oil.

Therefore, it is important that people are aware of the effects of nutrition on mental health so that they avoid the consequences of having high blood pressure or any other heart disease. It is very important that when dealing with any form of chronic disease like cancer, diabetes or obesity, you should go for a nutritious lifestyle. The results of this healthy lifestyle will definitely prove to be beneficial to your physical and mental health.

So, what are the positive effects of nutrition on mental health? Well, the first and most obvious one is that people who eat a healthy diet and are physically active are much more productive and feel good about themselves. Some people may not always agree with this statement, but by living a healthy life and eating foods that are low in cholesterol, fatty foods and saturated fats will surely boost your mental well-being and productivity.

There are many advantages that nutrition on mental health has on the lives of the individuals who take part in these activities. When you exercise, you feel energized, less tense and relaxed. Even if you are doing any other kind of activity such as reading a book, doing some simple stretching exercises, exercising your brain will become more active and creative. And so, the effects of nutrition on mental health will improve your mental clarity and mental acuity, which in turn, will increase your creativity. What's great about the effects of nutrition on mental health is that once you have taken the necessary steps towards healthy eating and doing some moderate exercises, you will feel healthier and younger, even if you did not find yourself overweight or obese. Being younger and more energetic can only be a good thing!
